From a Third-Party Redirect to a Custom Club Platform: A Bilingual Membership System for a Swiss Cricket Club
Designed and built a complete bilingual (EN/FR) membership and club-management platform for a Swiss junior cricket club — a public CMS-driven site, a parent portal, a full admin back-office, online registration with Stripe payments, and PWA notifications.

The Challenge
Gingins Cricket Club (founded 2008) is a family-run, junior-only club near Geneva with ~50 members of many nationalities, run entirely by volunteer parents. Its online presence needed a complete rebuild:
- The official club URL redirected to an ageing third-party Pitch Hero page the club did not own or fully control
- Membership registration, age-group eligibility, and fee collection were handled manually across spreadsheets and email
- A multicultural, bilingual membership needed the whole experience in both English and French
- A rotating, non-technical volunteer committee needed to publish news, events, and pages without a developer in the loop
- Payments, consent, and family/parent relationships had to be captured securely for a club managing children (U7–U17)
The Solution
I designed and built a custom full-stack platform (Next.js, statically exported) that the club fully owns and a non-technical committee can run day to day:
Bilingual CMS Site
A public EN/FR site built on a block-based page editor (rich text, images, sponsors, gallery) so committee members can edit pages, news, and events themselves — no code, no developer.
Online Registration & Age-Gating
Self-service membership and summer-camp registration with per-program age limits (U7–U17), so parents only see and pay for programmes their child is eligible for.
Stripe Payments + Bank Transfer
Integrated Stripe Checkout alongside a bank-transfer path for membership and camp fees, with a parent-facing fees view and reconciliation in the admin.
Parent Portal
A dedicated portal where families manage their account, children, consent, programmes, fees, and event RSVPs in one place.
Admin Back-Office
A comprehensive committee back-office: members & families, registrations, programmes, events, payments, sponsors, gallery, plus a role/permission matrix and coach scoping so each volunteer sees only what they should.
Events, RSVP & Comms
Events with RSVP, transactional email via Resend (with open/click tracking), and web-push notifications — keeping families informed across the season.
Results
The platform launched in July 2026, and the club moved from a rented third-party page to a system it owns and operates itself:
Registered and paid online in the first week after launch
Replaced the third-party Pitch Hero redirect with a site the club fully controls
Parents register children and pay online; the committee no longer processes sign-ups by hand
Volunteers publish news, events, and pages through the CMS without touching code
